Two enquiries in one day, get me...

I've bought some Logitech X530 5.1 speakers to use with my PS3. Little did I know, there is no room on the PS3 for the speaker's Red and White plugs (they convert to surround etc)

I've changed the sound settings on the Ps3 for the sound to come from the AV connection in my TV (they're plugged into sockets labelled PC/HDMI1 audio) but no sound is produced. I tried all sorts of settings and nothing works. Then I went to plug them into the back of my Sky+ box and they work perfectly.

Is there something I'm doing wrong with my PS3 setup? Many thanks

I'm not sure you've got the right thing for 5.1 from your PS3. Looking through the manual on the logitech website, the speakers don't contain a dolby digital decoder or a digital input. The fact that you are talking about the red and white rca connectors suggests that the best you can hope for is pro-logic surround.
Normally the way to get surround from your console is to use an optical cable and feed that into an amplifier with a dolby digital decoder, which in turn feeds (passive) speakers.

It's unclear from your post as to whether the tv sockets are input or output, which would be the first thing to check. Audio out from many TVs is carried on AV2 - through the scart adaptor.

If the speakers are just for your PS3, I would assume there would be an AV adaptor that came with the PS3 and that adaptor should have red and white RCA sockets for you to plug into.
