Can they not ship a couple of million over to Australia, with its significant underpopulation, or am I being far too simplistic here? ;)

What is the reason for the irregularity though? Does the selective abortion mean that people are choosing not to have girls, or is there more to it than that? Seems strange - what is the ratio of male to female in general? I was under the impression (perhaps wrongly) that there were slightly more females on the planet than males.

Why are they allowed to find out the sex of their unborn children? There are lots of countries which outlaw this practice to prevent "unwanted" females being aborted.

Surely this would help restore the natural 51/49% balance?

The problem then is that many female babies would be abandoned on the streets (as they already are) because their parents wanted their one and only baby to be a boy.
