Please help me lose my father in Scotland.

Right, next month I'm going back up to Scotland to look around the Universities and meet up with all my friends. However, I know for a fact that my dad (who is accompanying me) won't leave me alone for one minute to see people without reason, when really, I need him very much out of the way.

So, my question is this. Can anybody suggest activities / places to visit in Glasgow and Edinburgh that will keep a fat middle aged man busy for large portions of the day?

He likes: trains, science, music and brass bands.

Thanks for your help!

Well lucky for you because Sput is bringing his Quantum Physics and Locomotive 40 piece brass band to Scotland when you're there. It's round at Gav's house where admission is free along as you utter the Metroword when you arrive - it's the same one as gets you into the secret forum.

And you know what, it's a great show. We pile the brass band onto the train at one point to demonstrate the doppler effect and everything.

if he likes trains you could always shove him on the funny little subway in glasgow. that's amusing what with it being like a toytown trainset.

Fwahaha, what a good plan. I can just imagine him going round and round in circles all day because he's too much of an idiot to get off.
