I can't for the life of me remember what they had before they brought in the orange theme, and it's bugging me. Can anybody remember it?
Wasn't it "Don't sign on the dotted line until you talk to Tempo"? Whatever happened to Tempo?cdd wrote:Oh yes... "Don't sign on the dotted line until you talk to Comet!"
A quick Google search reveals that they went into administration in September 2001. Not sure whether a buyer was found or not.lateshowuk wrote:Wasn't it "Don't sign on the dotted line until you talk to Tempo"? Whatever happened to Tempo?cdd wrote:Oh yes... I have this on a VHS recording of some Christmas programs from a few years ago...but yes, it was exactly as you say, lots of switches being turned on.scottishtv wrote:Wasn't there a Comet ad campaign featuring lots of electrical items being switched on and off?
It began with things being switched ON and the V/O saying something like "The Coment sale is now ON". It ended with another switch in the middle of the slogan "Always the best ON|OFFer."
I remember this quite vividly now having seen the old 'choppy' lettering logo.
This ad dates from the late 1980s and had the end slogan "You know where to Come" with the T of the logo flying in off screen with the generic sound of an electrical appliance being switched on/off.Alexia wrote:I have this on a VHS recording of some Christmas programs from a few years ago...but yes, it was exactly as you say, lots of switches being turned on.scottishtv wrote:Wasn't there a Comet ad campaign featuring lots of electrical items being switched on and off?

Anoraky fact for those who travel towards Waterloo station: somewhere before Wimbledon you will see a bunch of industrial units and a retail park to the left of you. I believe they've still left the Tempo logo on the side.m-in-m wrote:A quick Google search reveals that they went into administration in September 2001.
