Web Hosting and Domain Names

This is the kind of thread where I expose a complete lack of knowledge - please bare with me.
I have just purchased web hosting/a domain name from one.com, due to their impressive cheapness. It generally does what I want it to do (or at least it will once I've uploaded stuff). However, I also want to point another domain to the hosting account, which looks completely independant to the "main" domain. I have just discovered that one.com say that they are unable to do this, but is this true? If I were to purchase a domain from 123-reg.co.uk, then could I point it towards a sub-domain of my "main" domain, and make it look separate.
That probably reads like a complete dirge, for which I apologise, but I'd appreciate it if somebody could tell me what I am able to do.
Thanks.

I am certain 123 reg can make a domain redirect to another site (if that is what you want to do)

Basically, but a bit more complicated than that. Say I have the subdomain at subdomain.example.com, then I'd like ideally the domain secondexample.com to redirect to the subdomain, but show to any end user that it was all hosted at secondexample.com. I.e. if a page was actually at subdomain.example.com/page1, then I'd like it to show in the browser as secondexample.com/page1. I have no idea if this is actually possible, but a second best scenario would for secondexample.com to stay in the browser bar the whole time, although the pages are actually loading from the subdomain on the other website.
That doesn't make any more sense does it?! Sorry, I'm finding it really hard to explain this...

You could embed the website you want to show in an HTML file on the domain, not sure on how to do that though.

123 Reg offer a 'framed web forwarding' option which would more or less provide you with the second scenario.

is this a good point to mention that if you sign up for the utterly fantastic
dreamhost using the promo code
metropol75 it'll get you a whopping $75 off your first year's hosting?
That's 12 months of
unlimited space,
unlimited bandwidth and a free domain
for just $39 ($114/yr after that)
ahem

You're like Chris Pirillo.
All I will ask is, how much are you making to give that code out?
