My Sony Ericsson blew up for the squillionth time, so Orange offered an alternative handset, the Samsung M8800.

The phone is couriered out, and the courier cannot wait while I bluetooth numbers across.

So I saved the phonebook to computer. Sony Ericsson exported it as a VCard 2.1 file.

The Samsung software is shite (or I'm missing something magical), and it does not offer a drag-drop way of importing the phone book.

The only way it will work is to import the VCard 2.1 file to Outlook, which Samsung is happy to sync with.

The problem is that when I import the .vcf to Outlook, only the first name and number appears. Although when opening the .vcf file in Notepad all the content is there.

I've been Googling/Binging for ways around this, convertors etc, to no avail.

Does anyone have a solution? I'm desperately trying to avoid re-entering numbers manually, which is the only option Orange suggested.

Surely, surely, there has to be a better way...?

Any old phones in a drawer somewhere that will accept the file? Then bluetooth the numbers from the old phone to the newest one and put the old one back in the drawer?

No such luck, Nick. My bro has a few lying around but they're either simless, and my spare sims dont work, or they don't have a memory card slot.

I've managed to import the Vcards one by one into Outlook Express' Address Book, then from there to Outlook 2007.

It's now syncing. The order is mucked up, but at least it will just involve a bit of editing rather than manually inputting each number.

Still open to better suggestions!

If you can open the file in notepad and read the contents is it not possible to import the contents into Excel and then save it as a CSV file. Presumably then Outlook will allow you to match columns to the headings.
