As some of you may be aware President Obama's is trying to bring in some sort of healthcare reforms, to the USA. Whether this reform is good for the usa is debatable, but the slander coming out of the such vile people and some of them are. LOOK at the some of the crack pot stuff there coming out with

* NHS is Evil,
* "People such as scientist Stephen Hawking wouldn't have a chance in the UK, where the National Health Service would say the life of this brilliant man, because of his physical handicaps, is essentially worthless."
* people over 70 are left to die, as there not worth the money ( something like that)

Yes the NHS has problems, yes there are ques, but Iam for one proud to British and proud of the NHS.
and its wonder to see so many people being proud of it http://twitter.com/search?q=%23welovethenhs

and this guy need shot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-Gnd85vP4M maybe he should bugger off to usa, if he likes it so much.

Here is another video that is full of crap: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_ej504Ybos

but here is what some one postage! replace the "government bureaucrat" in this commercial with "private insurance rep" and it's the same thing. Insurance companies get in the way of doctor and patient decisions all the time.

I agree. The outpouring of support for the NHS on Twitter over the last couple of days has been heart-warming.

The shouting, screaming, crying and the like in the US has been baffling, anyone would think that Obama was planning on killing everyone's first-born rather than trying to reform a crappy, unfair system. Jon Stewart has been on top form the last few days but some of the footage of the town hall meetings has been scary.

It's all vested interests though, it's those who profit from the current system who are whipping up the scare stories about 'socialised medicine'. For a while the stories revolved around the Canadian system, now it's Britain's turn!

Perhaps Obama should say that the small but loud minority currently whinging about the plans can opt out of the proposed scheme and stay with the status quo... then the next time they get turned down for healthcare by their insurer they'll regret it!

2 of the good things to come out of this - firstly Graham Lineham is a national hero and secondly.... we've finally found a practical use for Twitter!

Didn't realise it was Graham Lineham responsible for #welovetheNHS! Good man.

Secondly, whichever side of the fence you may be when it comes to Obama's reforms - I must say it brings me hope to see a leader that has promised change doing something radical - even though there are staunch critics who could easily derail the plan if you believe their campaign. I don't believe, whoever wins the next general election, will really offer and see through such "reform". I just don't believe that any of our parties are willing to go beyond the semantics of promises just to get into government.

Lastly, I think it's wonderful that we've all got rather patriotic about the NHS and I hope it has made just a few more people realise what a wonderful system it actually is. OK, by no means perfect and I'm sure we could all find flaws but it's amazing that such a service is able to operate whereby treatment is provided pretty much for free. Personally, I've always thought the US system of healthcare is a rediculous one - but I can understand why many Americans who feel they're well insured don't want to change the status quo. Still though, it's horrifying to think that if you ever need treatment for which you had no choice to undergo, that your insurer could pull the rug from under you or face a hefty bill.

It's 'Linehan'.

As he rightly said, regarding the flaws, it's like your parents- YOU can criticize them as much as you want but if anyone else says anything you'd murder them.

It's a crashing shame that waste of space dick heads like Glenn Beck and that awful, awful shit whose death would do us all a great service, Bill O'Reilly, are seemingly the people whose opinions dominate most of America. Has anyone here ever watched Fox news? Political bias shouldn't be allowed on any news network, but Fox is absolutely insane. I've never actually seen Billo win a debate, either.

I'm kinda glad the British equivalent is nothing more than Richard Littlejohn.
