"This video is not available in your country due to copyright restrictions" - I've been getting this message endlessly on YouTube lately. I cannot tell you all how much this infuriates me (I'm particularly resentful of when the Americans can get something we can't)

Does anyone know what videos are affected and why this has come upon me all of a sudden like a nasty cold?

Well I'd wager anything you WANT to see that's from America. I sometimes use hotspot shield to get around it, but it's mighty tedious and springs billions of banner adverts on you.

The Script. Scottish band, can't be viewed in the UK. Sheer stupidity, as if the annoying popup ads in-video weren't enough, the rights claims really annoy me.

I can see why they are there though.

I've had a couple of Channel 4 idents blocked in the UK:
Your video, "Channel 4 ident - Tokyo" , may include visual content that is owned or licensed by Channel 4 .
As a result, your video has been blocked in these locations:
Guernsey, Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey, United Kingdom
Why it's blocked here but not the rest of the world I don't know.

Youtube's really been rather a victim of its own success here. I actaully preferred it when they just removed copyrighted videos because eventually they were reposted again.

I've always wanted to live on Alderney. Sounds like a good idea now.
