Audio In-less camera...

I'm planning on making a short film with my Panasonic HDC-SD5 which hasn't let me down in the past. However, there have been instances were I've been desperate for an alternate audio recorder (i.e. boom mic) though it occurred to me that the SD5 has no such inputs to allow me to do that.

This may sound like a silly question (I have little experience with sound technology in film making) but is it possible to accomplish such a task without a Line In jack? Maybe wire a mic to a speaker next to the camera or something?

Many thanks

Can't imagine that being very good. Maybe you should try and record separately and re-sync in editing software? How you do that I have no idea. I'm farting wwaaaayy above my arse by offering suggestions in this area :)

There is only one thing more frustrating than a camcorder with no mic socket... one with a mic socket but no headphone socket, so you can't monitor the audio while you record.
