Just realised the British Atmospheric Data Centre offers free public access to a huge archive of Meteosat (up to 2006) and Meteosat 2 (up to right now) images. If you don't know what Meteosat means, you won't care.

So yes, I thought a few people on Metro might find it interesting. Bit of a nightmare to navigate their directory structure but once you crack it, it makes sense.

I remember watching with fascination an actual Meteosat receiver in the Birmingham Science Museum back in the day, wishing I could have one. ISTR it updated really slowly, line by line.
