I have been using this for ages, and I felt I needed to post on Metropol to say: isn't it great?

My spelling is terrible due to a combination of typos and not picking up mistakes when I proofread. Usually, this would lead to lots and lots of spelling errors that go unflagged by the spell checker because they happen to match another (incorrect) word.

Just now, I wrote "as descried above" in word, and it cleverly underlined the incorrect word with a blue line, offering "described" instead. This happens very frequently, and those are the sorts of mistakes that had this feature not existed, would probably have ended up in my final draft.

I've always been a bit snobbish about contextual grammar/anything, especially from MS Word, but they have really got it spot on with this one. I'm not sure how I'd live without it now I have it!

It really is a matter of time before MS Word actually writes the document for you. Simple little matrix of ideas that you want to express then hit return, and hey presto letter or essay prepared for you.

I've got 2007, but I'm not familiar with this blue underline. I occasionally see the green and red, but blue?

Nope.

Maybe your spelling's just too good!

Try typing "Their there." into word. That should do it.

Could someone please explain the concept of these blue, red and green lines?

I don't think I've ever seen one.

My contextual spell checker in Word 2007 doesn't actually work. It checks grammar, and frequently puts green lines under things I type, but I have never seen a red line, even under words that are blatant gibberish, let alone a blue one. All seems to be turned on - any ideas?
