Arms / poles for monitors

My monitor has a stand that takes up an annoying amound of space on the desk, in addtion to being set about an inch lower than I'd like it.

Now if I owned the flat I'd wall mount the bugger but I don't, so I thought I'd go looking for a nice simple vesa mount attached to an arm with a clamp on it for my desk. Surely they'll be abundant and cheap.

Well no, all I can seem to find is a mix of ridiculous £120 gas powered ones, ones that hold 4 screens, and ones that have an over long arm on them that mean having it would be far too high when against the wall or hit you in the face otherwise.

Any ideas on whether there is something in between?

Not quite, I can't wall mount it as I'd damage my precious wallpaper.

Something more like this or like this but less dramatic. And cheaper.

The second is kinda what I want, but I want the monitor to be against the wall, but this would result in it being too high.

I was just reading my cpc special offers catalogue and I noticed this:
http://cpc.farnell.com/_/psg02570/arm-t ... tid=468838
and at £12.50 (ex vat) you can't complain at the price. Only 5 or 6 years ago, we had to fabricate our own VESA mounts because the commercial equivalents were ridiculously priced!

that looks pretty close, my three worries would be how high the monitor would be, how far from the wall it would be and whether it could swing round 90 degrees so i can watch telly in bed. I'm concerned my various fussy needs will mean I'd end up making my own thing.

Having said all this, i've actually plonked my monitor on top of an old letter tray for the moment and simply by rising it 5cm it's made a world of difference. Maybe its not needed after all .
