Volunteer plea for plinth artwork

Image

Hundreds of people will get the chance to become a work of art on Trafalgar Square's fourth plinth later this year. More than 2,400 people are needed to stand on the plinth over 100 days as part of Antony Gormley's living artwork, The One and Other.

Gormley said he hoped the whole of the UK would be represented. He said: "It is about putting the living body in place of a statue and learning how people feel being that alone in such a public place."

I've registered (for a laugh) will never get selected though!

I would like to see a thirty-storey marble statue of Nick Harvey on that plinth. Money well spent.

One person an hour, every hour.

Not so much fun if you get 4am on a Tuesday morning though.

I thought that plinth was one of Gavin's new office tables.

I'm bored of philosophart.

(I am so disappointed that word is seemingly not original. Really, I made it up myself, but a quick google reveals 12.4m people have thought of it before me. Ah well.)

That's almost as harrowing as the day I found out I wasn't the first to embrace the marriage of Nutella and Weetabix.

Take comfort in the fact that i am the last to hear of this concoction. I shall be trying that one first thing Monday morning.
