Valentines day

i'm not the most romantic person in the world, but i think the only person who actually benefits from valentines day is clinton card himself.

but what annoys me the most about valentines day is that restaurants for some inexplicable reason revert to some shitty set menu which is double the price of the normal one, offering a microwave quality al la carte selection comprising of chicken in some sort of manky sauce and a soup starter made from seemingly incompatible ingredients (such as red pepper and bovril)

will you be going out with that special someone on valentines day or are you going to be holding off until the local eateries return to normal pricing structures?

I don't need the card companies to tell me what day of the year to tell my partner I love him.

I tell him that pretty much every day.

It is all marketing shite.

Though I'm probably biased having been single for 4.3 billion years now.

Yeh.

And I'm sure Lobster and Nignog both discussed this in a thread last year - as if to rub my nose in their lurve success.

Well, following our lovely but yes - set menu and overpriced - Valentines' meal last year, Mrs Alexia this year is forfeiting an evening out in favour of a date involving beer and Wales v England. That says "I love you" more than anything else I can think of.

We'll get a pizza afterwards.

have you considered M&S's rather good dine in for £20 offer? you even get the nice wine this time instead of the cheap plonk they usually have on those offers

I'll be spending Valentine's Day doing the same thing I normally do. Get drunk.
