Sky pixelating problem

Does anyone know whether a SKY LNB can be affected by temperature changes, rather than rain / snow etc?

Every day without fail, our SKY goes off on both local BBC ONE & local ITV1, plus ITV 2, ITV 4, Men & Motors, all BBC English regions except London & the Nations, & certain ITV regions added via 'Other Channels', with the Satelite Signal Not Found or There Is A Technical Fault messages.

This happens hot or cold.

Any ideas?

The dish is most likely slightly misaligned.

Tsk marksi, I was going to get in with my thermal expansion *as the actor said to the bishop* reason.

Anyway yes, that or the LNB is fucked.

My sister recently got SKY & she had to call the engineer out for an issue.

While he was there, she mentioned my issue & he came up with the theory that a local fire station/ambulance station etc was somehow interferring with my signal & it couldn't be fixed unless the dish was moved!

Has anyone heard of this possible issue, or is the SKY engineer talking out of his bum as I think it only started happening when I went MultiRoom?

Definitely bum talk.

Like most emergency services, the brigades use push-to-talk cellular devices. Even a microwave relay on their rooftop wouldn't interfere with DSat.

The Emergency services use TETRA radios which work on Cellular networks. They will no interfere with your DSat service.

This must be one hell of a big room.

It takes nearly five months for the echo to come back.

I don't think Beep is allowed back to the mailbox, so now he's hanging out with his second favourite professionals - rozzers.

Update on this : November 2009

The hard drive in the SKY Plus gave up, so the engineer was called out & he changed the box.

Also asked about this issue & he confirmed the dish was knackered, so the dish was changed too!

How long is the average age for a SKY dish, before it starts to go kaput?

Suppose it was.

You forget, some of us aren't technically minded unlike others on here.
