Towards the back end of L&K's second series, BT's 'PhONEday' initiative to add an extra 1 to all UK numbers meant that once again a new number came along. So 0181 811 8181 it was, and an edited jingle was used (cramming in an extra 1) until the new one arrived from the jingle studio.
I wonder if 020 8811 8181 is still held by the BBC.
As a slight aside, I remember thinking how stupid it was to add a 1 to every number at the time as that just mean they had the same total of numbers as before. How wrong I was about such a clever plan.
Glad you've been enjoying all my jingles! Yes I am a sad anorak.
And yes it is the old Live and Kicking phone number jingle - which Jamie Theakston actually had re-sung for his Heart breakfast show.
