Mobile Phone Companies - Good / Bad ?

I have had the most terrible time with O2 this week trying to move onto contract. I need a £15 deal with as many texts as possible, and O2 were able to offer me Unlimited Texts , and very shockingly , a Nokia 8800 Arte (or Nokia 6500 Slide / Classic) . So, online, I put in all my details and pressed send. I was then told that the phone was a pricing error and 02 would not honour the contract. They have now made both other phones available on that tariff Refurb models. On Orange, I could get 100 minutes and Unlimited texts along with a brand new G600 amongst others. However I want to get this deal on 02, so is there a way I could get that?

Does anyone else have any good / bad stories about phone companies?

Cheers :D

Why do you want it on O2? You might as well just port your number to orange and go with them!

Have always been with O2, and my mother, grandma and girlfriend get free 02 to 02 texts so it makes sense me being on 02.

However, Orange is very tempting.

Orange have been pissing me off this week. I was promised a call back by Tuesday and I'm still waiting.

EDIT: Whilst I was writing this I thought, "fuck it, I'll phone them and moan". I spoke to a very helpful chap who agreed the service I received was shoddy, and credited my account to the tune of £24 so that I can go on their website and buy the memory card I was promised.

Fabby.

I have to say Orange have always been good to me. Despite my K850i blowing up four times, they couriered a new one to me and collected the faulty handset the very next morning without a fuss.

I've also just upgrade my handset in contract to the C905, which I must say I love, and they gave me a 10% discount on line rental.

The only times when I have had issues with Orange, is in all honesty when I've cocked - not them.

Lucky you, my K850i died on me, so I got in touch with O2, who couldn't guarantee stock, but said they would send one out within 5 working days, so I waited, and nothing. Tried to get in touch again, first time I waited on hold for about 20 minutes and got cut off, and I was put through to their Tech department who said they don't send out phones and was told I had to go into an O2 Shop and hand it in there. I was already at the end of my tether at this point, so I rung O2 back asked for a cancellation when I explained the situation to the woman, she put me BACK through to tech! I simply hung up at that point, and handed it into an O2 Shop.

Did that, I asked the woman at the till would I get a replacement phone, she told me I could get a basic Nokia with a £25 deposit, you could imagine what was going through my mind then especially as I'm paying £35 per month. They told me it would be done within 2 weeks or sooner and that they'd let me know. Two weeks came and nothing, so I nipped into O2 and recieved it, apparently they did try to call, about 10 days earlier!

Anyway so far so good, a good friend of mine is on his third K850i on O2, and he's had no trouble at all with them, he's reported it, they've sent one out, he sent the faulty one back and no problems at all!

I used to be on Orange, but my main problem with them was the reception in our area was poor, you'd be better off with 2 tin cans and a piece of string. But as soon as my (what feels like a long) 18 month contract is over, I'm cancelling O2, I've never known such poor customer service in my life, if I try and haggle (like everyone else does) all I get is bullshit from what is probably a dodgy foreign call centre.

Alot of people I know are on 3, I might go with them next time, as I've never heard any of the people I know have trouble with them, my Dad used to be on O2 and he switched to 3 and has said they're alot better.

AVOID 3 LIKE THE PLAGUE!!

I had an 18 months contract with them and although they were by far the most tempting with the packages and plans, their customer service is absolute shite. I have never known such a difficult and dismissive operator in my life, and this is not very patriotic of me considering their HQ is in my home town.

I happily went back with Orange, and paid to have my 18 month sentence reduced and cancelled the contract. This alone took a month, upteen letters sent recorded mail, and speaking to people who hadn't a fucking clue half way around the world.

I'm paying slightly more with Orange, but as far as I am concerned that is for peace of mind.

I imagine you would be Band 5 with Orange, as we are paying about the same each month. They have always looked after me and I am happy to remain loyal to them.

To be fair to Orange I had no problems with their customer service, even when I called to cancel the contract they were more than helpful, but for someone who makes more calls than texts, the reception thing was an issue. I'll see what floats my boat nearer the time, I think it's April it should end, I'll definately give O2 plenty of notice. :D

What I'm getting from this as a non-mobile owning type that every network's customer service ranges between crap and excellent and no points inbetween dependant on who you hear it from.

Indeed, crap or excellent depending on who answers the phone in their call centres - but that's life I suppose.

I emailed O2 this week to ask if calls/texts to a Manx Telecom mobile were included in my monthly allowance (mate living there now).

"We cannot answer this question by email. Please call the number on your bill for further assistance."

Is it that bloody complicated?
