All in a days work

a colleague recently reported a slow laptop which they brought into the service desk - it was viral infestation so i cleaned it up and got the laptop working again. in trying to establish where this virus could have come from, i suggested that i take a look at her memory stick just to make sure it was clean - she didn't have it with her so she said she'd bring it in another day.

so, she brings in this usb memory stick and digital camera (which it seems she was also using to store files). i did a virus scan on both devices and found a virus on the camera.

i removed the virus, and for some reason (i'm not really sure why... probably to just check the file was valid) i clicked on one of the photos... it was a picture of a deceased relative 'lying in state'. it was a bit of a shock to be honest.

have you ever stumbled across a similar horror whilst doing your job?

Not quite, although a lady did bring back some books to the library that her husband had borrowed. He had carked it three days earlier.

There was a time at the hotel where I had to break up a loud threesome involving some very mature participants. Not a pretty sight when the room door was answered.

I've had to clear up vomit from the floor here and there, but thats a simple sawdust, brush and dustpan job. I'm also a First aider, which is bugger all really other than giving out plasters and being the middle man, worst case I've had to deal with was a man in his late 60's suffering a mild stroke, although we phoned 999 straightaway it seemed like an eternity from when we called until the paramedics arrived, what was worse was that he insisted he was fine, when he tried to stand he could barely do so, not easy to watch, but you learn as you go along.

That's only irony if you knew it was actually sarcasm.

I'm not gonna blame Nick.

I'm just glad that it is sarcasm.

shut up malpass.

meanwhile, my chum who worked at a bra shop had a woman squirt milk all over the changing room and had to clean it up. i think that's pretty bad.
