I've not heard of them, but I would like to hear more about them.

I think this could be a very uplifting thread!

They have OTIS escalators and lifts where I work, and have a very posh English voice telling you that you're on "Level 6. Stand clear, doors closing."

It's galling when even mechanical time-saving devices are talking down to you.

You can't beat an Otis lift. Although it always reminds me of that aardvark.

Forgot to ask if the engineer was able to fix the Marks and Spencer escalator?

They were indeed. In fact, as luck had it, they were connected physically by a set of escalators.

I had to laugh when I saw the name of the lifts in our local multi story - Schindlers Lifts. (its a proper company http://www.schindlerlifts.co.uk/ .)
Silly but I thought it was funny.

To look at it, you'd figure if they were a smaller, less professional company they'd have used that a bit more than a wry joke hidden in a URL.
