Those of you who are into the technical side of things and streaming technologies really should give the Democratic Convention Silverlight streaming a try....
The quality is stunningly beautiful ... even if the subject matter might not be.
You'll need to download a couple of plugins to view.
DemConvention
If anyone else has experience and links to other content do share, please. The iPlayer would be magnificent using this technology.

Very nice, and on a slight tangent, isn't the staging for the event generally just fabulous? During C4N tonight even though it was just showing a generic 'flying stars' backdrop the way it blended with its physical surroundings was very lovely.

So, (aside from all this linux chatter), whats the difference between silverlight and Adobe flash?

Apparently it's pretty powerful in how you can tie it into other web technologies if you're a developer, but in end-user terms there's not a hell of a lot of difference.

Based on this limited exposure, I think it's technically superior, more vibrant colours, less washed out and has considerably less artifacts.

Meh, the latest version of flash supports H.264 which delivers some rather nice images AND it's a proper standard.

Hmm well I have tried this on two separate computers and my video experience is just a large black square.
Nil point.
