Mac Firewalls

Hey guys

I've been resorting to this Macbook for internet uses alot now, seeing as my PC will connect to my router, but most of the time, not load anything, yet my Mac does.

I've been aware that Macs have their own built in firewall and they're supposed to be alot more secure than Windows PCs. However, I've never 100% trusted a firewall built into an OS. Can anyone recommend a good, free firewall for Mac OSX?

Many thanks.

You'll find there's very few firewall apps for OSX because... well, there's no real need for one as there's few threats and that the built-in firewall does decently and damn well if you're willing to do some Terminal wrangling.

If you still want security then I'd advise on Little Snitch, does a great job of locking your connection down once fully configured. No, not free but don't be so damn cheap.

Amateurs. I sift the packets manually.

The OSX firewall is IPFW, a very capable piece of kit inherited from BSD. Remember that your router will also act as a firewall.
