I'm starting to hear more and more chit-chat about OLED, and the availability of thinner televisions and displays.

I believe Sony and Samsung have their versions on the market.

Are they any good, or is it worth waiting for a few more years until the technology improves?

OLEDs can be seen in lots of mobile displays, including the super slick Nokias on the market - so if you want an impression of how good they are then take a look at those.

They're limited to a fairly small screen size at the moment but, like anything, its only a matter of time until they overcome this. I'm not sure what the limiting factor is - but there's lots of sites out there with the lowdown.

They're definately the way forward. Huge contrast ratios and super wide viewing angles will make LED displays look poor by comparison.

One of the other benefits is that OLEDs don't require a rigid substrate, meaning they can be flexible.

Imagine pull down projector screen that doesn't require a projector - wall sized!

my old camera. the famous one that broke a lot in that video, had an OLED screen and it was amazing. I loved it so much, you could see it in direct sunlight and it was so sharp and crisp. All my replacements have had a poorer screen, despite them being larger and with posh coatings they are just nowhere near as good.
