That's an interesting news item, as it dates the programme at March 20th, which is more than three weeks before the election.

Does anyone know the latest rules, as I always thought broadcasters only had to be completely impartial and equal-handed in coverage in the last three weeks leading up to an election?

Acording to Ofcom (and it's changes between elections, ie european have a different lead time to general, to local)

but it states that the election period for (London, Wales and N. Ireland Assembly elections starts on the last date for publication of notices of the election.

and looking through the London Elects website, their election timetable states that the notice for publication of the election was 18th March.

New talkSPORT boss Moz Dee is a good mate with Jon Gaunt (who has never seemed to be on the best of terms with Whale), so this seems used as the excuse, he needed to get rid of him. There has been some quite serius breeches of the Ofcom code at talkSPORT which have not led to presenters being sacekd.

Former talkSPORT presenter Tommy Boyd (currenty on Original Solent breakfast), is rumored to be Whale's replacement, him self sacked from the station 6 years ago for on-air comments from a caller about the Queen Mother and the Royal family following her death.

James will soon be starting an Internet only show and has already started a daily audio blog.

Quite unrelated really, but the comments in that article just leave me in awe as to how some Maily readers will just look for any stick to beat (quote) "Browns Broadcasting Corporation" with, even when there's no stick actually there.

Wonder how long Galloway will last, now Gaunty's 'mate' has joined the station?

'2006 Clash Of The Titans', anyone?

I'm hoping, Moz Dee wont last very long and will take Guant down with him. I can see James raising his profile in the next year, by going on TV such as The Daily Politics (as he did today) and maybe an appearance on I'm A Celebrity.

If Dee is gone by January 2008, we could well see Whale return to the airwaves, wish full thinking though!

James has joined, internet radio, group, Play Radio UK and will host a weekly show at 6pm on Tuesdays, it's bound to be the most listened to internet only radio in the UK.

Why do I feel like though I don't know of Whale's humour slant I don't like him on a level close by Harry Hill?

:checks various sources for info on the man:

Figured as much, got a thing for lots of righty polemic but little that's actually humorous. A strange relic of the 80s and early 90s and lots of "speaks for the silent majority" which makes the majority seem like insular little pricks.

I feel a lot of his On-Air persona is just that, at times you can really here depth in his thought and you can tell he cares about his listeners and callers, he has a certain depth that Jon Gaunt lacks.

Chris Moyles has quite-rightly branned Guant a cheap man's James Whale in the past.

Hm, don't say. Well, I didn't listen to or watch him before and it's unlikely I'll start now as he doesn't seem all the palatable even if it's just a persona he assumes to keep himself from slipping into obscurity.
