I want a puppy..

Now 'im indoors is well aware i want a dog but he is putting up a fight. I've tried every arguement i can think of to convince him it will be a good idea. He reckons a doggy is a bad idea as cats and dogs don't get on. I said that is rubbish the cats will put a dog in its place. He says the only cat we owned that'll sort out a dog is dead so a kitten would be better. I like cats but i want a dog, as i really miss the long walks and loyalty that comes with being a dog owner. He thinks i won't get up on cold rainy days to walk the dog at 6am. I say i used to have to drag the dogs out for a walk when the weather was shitty, even though we all had matching barbour jackets. This was before me and mr H got together. He maybe anti dogs because i had dogs when i was with my ex husband. An insecure jealousy thing perhaps.
He says Mouse would hate a dog, Mouse says he wants a Hamster.
I need you lot to give me some new cunning ideas as to why a puppy would be a good addition to our family.

if you pay half the running costs for your house, then really, you are entitled to get one without even a discussion. just get a dog. he'll get used to it.

I own the house and i am the main breadwinner but that's not something i like to throw in his face. We are still a family and big decisions are joint decisions. I'd love a Manchester Terrier again. It cost £250 15 years ago. Big money. I can't just say hi honey i just spent over 200 quid on a dog, how has your day been?
I need new constuctive reasons for having a dog i can throw into a discussion.
How is Cuthbert Mark. He must be at least 2 now.

Dogs are evil, and anyone who says otherwise is either a gay or a woman.

Lorns, Hi I don't think we have chatted before, I am PJ, pleased to meet you. Two ideas spring to mind, is there a friend or families dog you could look after for say a couple of weeks to show him that you are commited to get up rain or shine first thing? The other thing I thought of, is that is there anything that he would really like at the moment? Especially if it is something that you have said you didn't like the idea of that he suggested in the past, that if you got a dog you could say yes to for him?
Feel free to say oi PJ you are mad!

Nick, you need to borrow your mate's dog, I'm sure a nice visit from Cerberus would make Phil a dog-lover.

I've made some sort of progress. He said if i can find a cross Shitzu and bulldog puppy he'll have one. As quite likes the idea of owning a thoroughbred Bullshitzer.

You'll be needing a Burberry bed for it I expect.
