I'm watching Delia.

In this new series she's doing "lazy" cooking.

She's making stuff with McCain Potato Wedges and Aunt Bessie's Frozen Mash.

This is not the Delia I grew up watching.

I feel dirty.

Also why would I make weird potatoe rosti rather bread than pop to Tesco and buy some propper stuff.

I will have to iPlayer this. It's a Top Model double on Living - much to the Dr's chagrin.

Aside from that, I notice that Delia hasn't yet appeard on the iPlayer list, I think I will be downloading that when it turns up.

This whole "cheat at cooking" thing has harboured much controversy, when in actuality - the programme is just a spin off from her provisional "How to Cheat at Cooking," which was published in 1971.

The media are saying all of this is a damage to her credibility. It isn't, this was one of the things she did as a recognised chef!

Delia != Cooking

She's a complete fraud, and a patronising cow to boot. All I see in her new show is a desperate woman, who wishes she could be Nigella, which is nothing to be proud of either.

The whole show was a rip off. Frozen mash tastes grotesque. A packet of Mr Mash wins hands down.

Fine for me at this end. I've been downloading episodes from the states, but they're usually emblazoned with "up next" straps and banners which means I have to cover them up with my own ones.

I wish I'd seen a preview of this new programme of hers. Could have bought shares in Aunt Bessie's.

(I had an Aunt Bessie. She didn't make frozen spuds, but she did wear odd wooly hats. I'll forgive her that, it was 1977 and she was quite old. But I do accept that I've gone off at a tangent now.)

Still, no point crying over UHT milk. What we need to do is to buy shares in whatever she's pretending to cook with in the next few programmes. Pot Noodles or pancake mix or something.

In fact if we follow this approach to television cookery through to it's logical conclusion, in a couple of years we'll see Delia nip out to Sainsburys (other supermarkets are available), buy a frozen ready meal and the level of instruction we get will be to remove it from the box, pierce the film lid and microwave for 2 minutes.

Then she can spend even more time showing us round Norwich Football Club.
