Laptop Sound problems

I bought a purdy Philips freevents laptop for Xmas and it's working a treat. It's lovely. The only problem is, I can't get automatic playback from my microphone or, when I plug it in, my line-ins.

I've tried to fix it but I cocked it up. I've got Realtek HD Audio Manager and that was abotu as much use as a sack of spanners. And I'm on Vista too. Is that any help?

Can anyone help me?

No actually, it's a yamaha midi sequencer plugged into the line-in. I don't just perform covers you know ;)

If you want a decent, professional audio interface get yourself a Lexicon Alpha. Barely bigger than a VHS cassette, it has all you need for inputs, outputs and recording. If you want something bit more snazzy, get the next model up with is the Lexicon Omega. :)
