Electric shocks from Laptop

I've been getting little electric shocks from my laptop recently. I've got an HP Pavilion DV5000, and on the front there's the metal speaker grill. Whenever the laptop is plugged into the mains (which is most of the time due to the battery only lasting for about 90 minutes) I get shocks on my wrists when typing. It's really annoying and results in me having to type in such a way where only my fingertips are touching the laptop.

Does anyone else get little shocks from their laptop computers?

There are some people i wish would get shocks from pootahs. Mention no names. TVForum!

Never get shocks from pootah but i am prone to static shocks from, cars, supermarket trolleys, some people. Well pretty much anything that has a positive charge or is it negative? I get confused. We need Sput in this thread.

Pah. I went through a phase (that's one for nick) in 2006 of getting 230VAC off a *table* every time i touched it.

Sput, I have tried for the last few minutes thinking of a witty response to you getting an electric shock from a table - but I can't. I could think of something later, but right now the comedy bit of my brain is closed for maintenance. Sorry.

What kind of table was it, though?

To be fair, it was a metal table with a bunch of lab gear on it. It turned out that some useless electrician had wired the earth to the neutral in the power sockets above it, so when i touched the metal table next to it (which happened fairly often), I noticed. Profoundly.

Just single phase, then, if it was only 230 volts!

Must say, I'm more worried about Lorna and Jamez and their nylon underwear.

I'm currently in a phase of getting a static shock once a day, every day, when I try to fill up at the salad bar of the local deli. Bastardised steel tongs and ladles. Every day!
