Closure Of The Place You Work

This thread is really linked to the closure of a Naval Base in the UK.

But what is it like to be made redundant? What do you do afterwards?

Is there anybody here that works at Plymouth Naval Base, Portsmouth or Faslane Bases that is being threatened with redundancy? Or have you lost your job at one of the bases already?

Thoughts?

More Info on the Bases:

Devonport Naval Base

Portsmouth Naval Base

Faslane (Or Clyde) Naval Base

So do you work in a school and do music workshops with 11 to 12 year olds or do you work in a naval dockyard and are scared of being made redundant?

You have to be phuquing versatile if it's both, as indicated by the two threads you've started on here.

I think we should be told.

My dad works in Plymouth Naval base and i am worryed he will lose his job. I do not work in a school - i am in Year 8 at School. The music workshop was showing pupils who would like to come to this school what they could do in music.

Well that additional info makes Nick's post seem a little harsh. Perhaps this is a worthwhile question since it is viewed originally from the impact the threat of redundancy has on dependants.

Quite a serious point from a youngster considering many of the OP's age are hanging around street corners drinking cheap cider and taking drugs rather than thinking about the future.
