Some of the Cornish people have recently taken a dislike to celebrity chef Jamie Oliver having a holiday home in their county. A group of activists has risen up to defeat him and drive him out of the country, and these chaps have been nicknamed the “Ooh—Arr-A”.

Are the Cornish right to try and drive Jamie out back to where he came from, and what's with the whoe “Ooh—Arr-A” thing.. I feel us south westerners are being mocked again!!!

But Jamie Oliver has a 15 Restaurant in Watergate Bay wich must bring much needed employment to the county.

Unless you can provide a souce for this then you should truly go and dip your head in a bucket of wet fish as recommpence. You are lucky you're not being taken to court for libel.

I first read it in the Express, but this article from the sun means that I ain't making it up, I don't need to fight the Cornish cause as I'm a Devonian myself. Put the bucket of wet fish on hold.

Being a Cornish person (even if I've now become an honorary Plymouthian) I feel it is necessary to point out that 'the Cornish' obviously means 'mad Cornish extremists who should be certified'.

The Jamie Oliver story is the one nationally noted (and treated with the ridicule it deserves), but perhaps less well known is that the same group have claimed responsibility for an arson attack in my home town of Redruth a few months ago - they set fire to a disused Brewery site because it was in the ownership of a Scottish firm before it went bust.

Such mad idiots do nothing for the county. No doubt any lurking member on here will now be moving heaven and earth to trace who I am and kneecap me for being so disloyal to the motherland...

And what indeed is with the 'ooh-arr' thing? I thought we were discussing Cornwall, not Somerset

Love the place. As a three-year resident in a previous life I no-longer conform to the constraints of being an Emmet and can pass myself off as a Truronian. Will move back when I'm 50.

However I don't like fish, so Rick Stein is on my hitlist, and Jamie Oliver will be getting the number of my speech therapist.
