...yet again, with no knighthood for Bruce Forsyth. Am I the only one who feels it's a terrible injustice that he hasn't been made a Knight, despite his endless LE and charity work, e.g. the Variety Club?

On the other hand, Salaman Rushdie and Beefy Botham have been knighted - though interestingly only a CBE for Jane Tomlinson. Would have expected her to be made a Dame.

Most honours go to Civil Servants or Political Party cronies. They have little or no value in a modern society and should be abolished.

Certain Civil Servants get a BEM after 25 years service. Others of a higher grade get an MBE. All for doing very little for a very long time!

Additionally, the likes who by an accident of hundreds of years of in-breeding style themselves "His Grace the Duke of X" et al, should be forced to accept that they are no better than anyone else and just call themselves plain Mr/Mrs/Miss etc.

I agree with you James H, about time he got a knighthood. There was mention of David Beckham getting one WHY?

Brucie long deserves one, Queenie obviously isn't a fan of him?

However Brucie would be bound to change his catchphrase to ...

A friend of mine has been awarded the OBE. But then he works very hard for a charity he set up himself to use music with the deaf community, so he definitely deserves it.

perhaps I am being obtuse here, but isn't "music for the deaf" something of a lost cause, a little like signing on BBC specifically for the blind?

My sister runs a charity, no one has sponsored her for an OBE, MBE etc and she works tirelessly 18 hours a day. Maybe I will sponsor her myself if I thought she could even get the time off to go and collect it.

If you don't sing your sister's praises, who are you leaving it to? Write some letters. You'll feel good about it no matter what the outcome.

I hadn't thought about the fact that the virbrations could be just as enjoyable for deaf people.. I suppose some of us with all of our senses intact tend to ignore the fact that those missing one or more tend to have an increased sensitivity to those which remain.
