Wireless woes

OK...I'm at my wits end on this one.

I'm experiencing painfully slow speeds over my wireless router (which has a cable modem connected to it) and it's also suffering from dropouts - but not causing the wireless network itself to disconnect.

I'm on 4Mb broadband and although I understand there's a bit of give either way my connection tends to be anything between 0.3Mb sometimes getting up to a lucky 2.5Mb.

When I plug the modem straight into my laptop via ethernet the connection is fine and regularly hits just below 4Mb.

I've got a Belkin wireless router (Yes I know my own fault!!) but it seems to have gradually got worse and browsing is crawly to dial-up speeds.

As far as I know there's some issues with Virgin Media in my area at the moment but it still doesn't explain the difference - especially when I'm sitting opposite the router!

I've fiddled with every single setting and no luck. Any ideas?

I'd like help on this one too, I also have a Belkin but it's one that my sister bought so she could use my Internet (Virgin Media 4MB) connection on her laptop, and rather frequently now we're having dropouts, now usually a reboot does the trick, but it's got to the point when I'm rebooting the bugger up to 3 or 4 times a day, I could understand if it was once every now and again, but it's starting to get on my nerves.

I'm really thinking of buying another router, as this one is really doing my head in, although I have no problem with my connection speed and my sister has no problem with her speed either.

is there another router in the neighbourhood on the same channel? If so they might be interfering
