with google local i can search directly from my own search page using this query string: http://www.google.co.uk/lochp?q=
but i've not been able to find out how the search strings in microsoft virtual earth are constructed. any ideas what the search string is?

in that case, i'll clear my proxy logs and visit it a few times and try to work out what's happening and work out how virtual earth is sending requests back to the server.
it might take me a while because i need to bring one of my spare monitors down - i'll let you know what i find out

I've been trying to figure this out. There are probably ways of building searches with queries, since you can build email links, but these use 'point' references, eg. http://local.live.com/?v=2&sp=Point.t9r ... 0Edinburgh
It might be possible that there are other methods other than point that can be used to build links, but I suspect with all the AJAXness Live Local is using, it won't be too easy to extract.
