Have any members completed work experience with BBC News? If so, how soon before your placement began did you hear that you'd been successful?

About 2 months. It'll depend on what department/programme you'll be assigned to. Work experience applications aren't dealt with centrally. Candidates are chosen by the departments/programmes that want work experience people.

If you know somebody at the BBC, from my experience they can't give you work experience directly as it is unfair to others.
I think the w/e forms on the internet havn't been updated in a while because the BBC Spoltight page say they are full for applicants for 2006.

That's just that page that hasn't been updated. The pages are updated by the departments. To clarify, the applications are collected centrally but are sent immediately to the HR offices of the specific depts.

True, but they can help give you names of relavant people to contact.
See my response in the other TV Work Experience thread for more advice.
