Mutterings of getting a group of us to go to Henley but with the prices they will be charging, just to get into the sodding venues, I think I'd rather nail my bollox to a TGV.

Having a houseparty at my girlfriend's house, we weren't sure what was happening until today, everyone else was depending on everyone else to do something.
To top it off, I'm not working this NYE, which I have been doing for the past two, so that's nice.
Happy New Year to you all btw.

Dover cliffs overlooking the harbour watching the fireworks over dover castle, if it's a clear starry night. That's what we normally do. We always take a bottle of champers too. The cliffs are normally closed of a night to cars but we park up and take a walk, we're not supposed to but hey ho. The police are normally understanding as long as we get are arses back to the jag in 60 seconds.
We finish the Champers off once we get back home, if i haven't sunk it all en route of course.

Oh yes! Only the 1 in the car. I always have another 1 or 2 in the fridge chilling for our return home.

having a poker night here at lobster centre having 8-9 people over, winner takes all. other fun games like buzz and singstar etc.
we toyed with the idea of going out into town, but it is always so so busy and it takes like 30 minutes to get a drink in some of the popular places.
to be honest, i'd rather have a house party now, and then have a big night out with my friends in a couple of weeks when i don't have to pay a premium and it won't be so busy.

My sentiments exactly. Two years ago after queuing 45 minutes for a drink, I had to queue another 45 just to leak the darn beverage! Most time consuming expensive pint of my life.
Then again if I really want to lose money speedily this New Years maybe I should gate crash your poker night

As usual I will be at the controls of BBC ONE Northern Ireland seeing in the new year with Natasha Kaplinsky and co. And no, I don't get paid extra for that.

Maggie Thatcher and Bruce Gyngell have got an awful lot to answer for in that area, haven't they?
I remember the old "golden hours" agreement where an announcer doing an evening shift on Christmas Eve, when it fell on a Sunday, and went past midnight, would get double time for Sunday, multiplied by double time for after midnight, multiplied by triple time because you finished on Christmas Day.
Even though they weren't in vision, they then also got an extra quarter of an hour on the end for taking their make-up off, plus an hour on the end for having their evening meal on a tray in the studio, in case there was a breakdown, then they had to round the shift up to the next complete quarter of an hour before putting their time claim in.
Those were the days!
