Lucky me.. Santa is bringing me a Media Centre PC for Christmas :roll:

I'm hoping to use the PC (with it's TV Tuner feature) as part of my TV, if you know what I mean, along with using my games consoles etc. By what I've seen in online manuals, no media centre PC has a SCART socket at the back, but an S-Video socket. Confusion with an old WinTV USB device lead me to become familiar with S-Video, however I don't really know how or what to get to use SCART devices (PS2 etc) on a Media Centre PC with an S-Video socket?

Well my big whooping Media Centre PC has 2 of everything apart from Scart, as for my PS2, I have a composite cable so no problem for me really. I think you can buy them from Game or piss-smelling-game-look-a-like

Thanks for that Nate but I can't really seem to find anything in either shop. I'm simply looking for a lead similiar to one end being a SCART plug and the other end being an S-Video plug. I use a multi-scart switch adaptor and I'm going to need to use something to connect it to the PC.

you can get an adapater that turns s video into scart, if that that's what you're looking for.

Yes (Thank God!) - you can push the i button while watching something and choose an alternate ratio.
Came out in the rollup - but took a damn long time.

Dr Lobster's got it right but make sure your TV is compatible wtih SVHS mode or you'll be in for a disappointment of monochromatic proportions!

Sort of. Thinking back to my days with WinTV USB, I connected the Yellow plug to the S-Video adapter and the audio plugs into the Audio In sockets. For a Media Centre PC, is this kind of how it works as well?

EDIT Actually, just looking at a Product Demo on HP.co.uk, the PC has RCA Audio Jacks and an RCA Composite Video input, so i'm okay now. Thanks for your help, everybody.

You can buy an S-Video to composite adaptor, and then use a scart connector with composite RCA (phono) inputs.
