ON A SERIOUS NOTE
I was hoping this thread might discuss misuse of fireworks in another way. I worry that it seems to go on longer and longer every year.

I am confined to my house every evening during the "season" because of a terrified dog. It makes his life hell for about two weeks around end Oct/Nov and the end Dec/Jan. He shakes uncontrollably from 6pm to after midnight, can't eat and gets very dehydrated.

It's about time a restriction was made on when fireworks can be used. I think the weekend around 5 Nov and 31 Dec is sufficient. There is no need to terrorise pets and inconvenience other members of the community beyond that.

My neighbours may have small children and wish them to enjoy the event, but anything beyond a couple of nights creates a worse problem and infirgement of my rights than any local ABSO-holder.

It's perhaps time that private firework ownership was banned. There are many very good public displays. We even have the national event here in Plymouth every year, but at least it is over 2 nights and all residents simply take precautions during that time.
