I hear in Scotland they have battered pizzas and fried Mars bars.
Is this true?

It's just a 6/8" pizza dropped in hot oil for 2 minutes. There's no batter on it. It is folded in half and laid on a bed of chips. That's a "pizza supper".
Some places do batter and deep fry chocolate bars, but nobody I know has ever seen one asked for or eaten.

Not quite Scotland, but a chip-shop in Warrington managed to get on Granada News, as they managed to sell deep fried Creme Eggs, can't say I tried it, but as I think the idea of a deep fried Mars is rather disgusting, then I can't say much for Deep Fried Creme Egg.

It does, and it is a dreadful state of affairs. The First Minister would tell you it is improving, but I don't see it. I see lots of "Health Education Board for Scotland" advertisements with warnings, but but little else.
If you want the facts and figures have a read of this:

There's a very large Italian presence in Scotland dating back to the 50s. It means that every town and city supports a chip shop (or 10), so it's very much a cultural thing.
I have a chippy on the corner of my street, but its a rare treat rather than the norm to have one.

Infact it looks waist expanding tasty. I think i'll stick to my usual way of cooking pizza. I bet it would be yummy in batter though. I'll dig the deep fat frier out and let you know how i get on

From a man who has eaten a deep fried pizza, spring roll and mince pie (not at the same time, I hasten to add), the idea of batter on a pizza makes me squirm.
It would ruin the taste of all that oil.
*Delicious oil*
