PC Problems

At least once a month, my PC needs reformatting for some odd reason. However now it has gone too far.

Nearly everytime I format my PC it's because of constant stop errors and automatic restarts. The only details Microsoft give me is that it's caused by an Unknown Device Driver. I don't really know if that's correct, but if it is, does anybody know what I can do to help it?

Another reason why I think it may crash and restart is because it heats up a fair bit. I recently cleaned out the case seeing as it was full of dust, but it had seemed to have made matters worse, as the PC wouldn't run Windows successfully for a few hours.

There are no signs of viruses or spyware either.

Does anybody know the real reason why this may be happening to be every month? Many thanks.

Dying hard drive most likely. Let Windows format it from the XP CD.
Or faulty memory (http://www.memtest.org/)

Overheating is another possibility, look in BIOS for Hardware Monitor values, or use something like Speedfan to report the temperatures in Windows, bearing in mind that temperatures reported in the BIOS will be higher than temperatures reported through Windows.
