The question is, would Gordon "miracle-economy-funded-by-mortgage-equity-withdrawals-and-buy-to-lets" Brown be any better?

In all probability, no.

Gordo has not created any extra capacity or efficiency in the economy. I seem to recall that the vast majority of Britain's growth has been created in the house price bubble - people withdrawing money against the equity in their houses and arranging buy-to-lets.

With 15% of the population on the dole or disability and 35% in the pay of the public sector, how long can Gordo's cheap credit keep fuelling the economy before we reach our limits.

We need an election before the Tories lose all hope to UKIP and the BNP.

So Johnnyboy. Sorry it seems like i'm always after a debate with you, i'm not, i like to hear your views and opinions. I like to look at things from all angles. Who would you like to see take over from Blair? Gordon Brown seems the obvious choice, but i'm not sure about him. He's the best of a bad lot at the moment and David Cameron is doing himself no favours for the blue corner. He's like a puppy dog.

Politics is not my strongest subject. I'm willing to learn though.

I detest Gordon Brown. He seems to be the most uncharismatic, boring, emotionless, only-person-who-does-that-really-annoying-thing-with-his jaw person I've ever seen. And if he's more Old Labour than New, I'd still vote Cameron.

I find it annoying that Gordon is presumed to be instantly in line to replace Tony when he leaves. I'd much rather see the likes of John Reid or Margaret Becket get the top job.

Well it's presumed but there still has to be a leadership contest, don't count your cliches, phillybaby.

God I'm glad it's not just me who gets irritated by his strange gurning at the end of each sentence. I'm surprised the Labour spin-doctors haven't trained him to stop that by now.

It just puts me in mind of the Joey Deacon 'spacker' face people used to pull at school... which in my eyes kind of removes credibility from what he's just said.
