Why does the MSN Service Status page even exist?

It's possibly the most pointless waste of space ever. It's never updated and claims there is nothing wrong with the service and yet I have been unable to sign in for 40 mins due to it being "temporarily unavailable"

urgh.

I can't sign in either.

I do agree the Status page is crap.

Marketing wouldn't want any admissions of problems as this would reflect badly on the brand.

About 40 minutes ago I noticed no-one was online. At first I thought I had no friends, but then I realised there was something wrong with MSN! It's still not working obviously.

Yeah, the whole lot is down. Possibly one of the very rare times this has happened?

Everything's fine for me.

But that might because I use Windows Live Messenger.

I'm using WLM as well, and it's cocked up.

If WLM is the case, then perhaps everyone's blocked you, rather than having technical problems :P

No because everyone is currently online - I think!

I timed it well, my NTL Broadband speed was starting to annoy me (plus my PC isn't too great with it), so I unplugged the modem, and then plugged it back in when the PC was still on, tried signing into MSN and got nothing each time, checked the Service Status, being spot on as ever. Ended up rebooting a few times, so I even ended up downloading Windows Live Messenger and still got the same thing, then eventually signed in, though my friend informed me the Network was down. Woo-bloody-hoo!

Make sure you use Ethernet on NTL modems. USB is very dodgy with them!
