Hmmm... oddly Wikipedia doesn't really address this issue, but as far as I know, he's still alive.

That was an issue also last night when someone placed a seed of doubt into my mind by saying that Bernard Matthews was dead. It's an issue very close to my heart.

Exactly when Dave said "Bootiful" it started to flash in big letters on the screens in the QI studio.
