personally, neither: they're both expressions of freedom of speech.

i can't actually see why those cartoons are offensive, and i can't see why anybody found jerry springer the musical offensive either (which i guess is the most recent equivalent christian 'mass outrage' incident).

but going back to your first point, mark... i can't even see why abu hamza is even in prison eitherand certainly not for 7 years. again, his statements are his opinion... the people who should be locked up are those stupid enough to act upon his words.

and what about that chap in austria who got locked up for 3 years for denying the holocaust... we're all well aware of the part austria has played in the second world war but even so, it's only his opinion which i think everyone would agree he is entitled to it.
