The World with interrupted Broadband

I seriously thought that I was going to go spare after getting a noisy dropwire after a storm on Sunday. My internet access was severely affected. I now have a new dropwire fitted.

It was so upsetting, does anyone else feel emasculated when their internet connection plays up?

When I used a ropey wireless connection and shared someone's broadband, I could cope when the service dropped. Sometime for a day or so at a time.

Now that I have my own 24/7 line, downtime is much more noticeable and painfull. Fortunately not that often, but it has happened.

Recently I called telewest to report my connection (and tv) had gone offline at 10 to 6 in the morning (as you do).

I was dumbfounded when they said to call back in the afternoon! Since then I have had leaflets dropped though my door for a new wireless network being set up across Edinburgh; and it seems there is a node near me. I can pay the £4 per hour rate or £40 for a month.

It feels much better to have a backup!
