Living in London

Hi Guys

I'm considering moving to London due to my work commitments, but where would you suggest I start looking for a place?

Having worked in London for nearly a year I realised the other day I still hardly know anything about the different areas, so where would you say was a nice part of London to live? ...and also where do I start looking for a property?!

Bear in mind i want my own place and I don't want to share with manky, drug-taking piss-heads who knick all your things!

ta!

But you've just ruled out everywhere in London.

Lol, true I guess! I mean I don't want a flatshare or anything, I want my own flat.

I think Mr Jay is either ridiculously rich or rather naive. You're not gonna get a 'nice' place in London all to yourself for under £700 a month + council tax, bills and what not.

I realise the cost, unfortunately, but i don't have much choice!

Yep, I've been doing it for the past year!

Unfortunately commuting from my home town, where I've been over Christmas is £720 a month!

...and I've been dossing at my Grandparents on the Kent coast for the rest of the year, where it costs £340 a month - it just seems a bit stupid when it would be easier to find a place in London - depending on cost of course..

Not sure where you are living now, but, you'd be better off looking for a place outside London. Tonbridge, Sevenoaks and even Maidstone are quite popular areas for people commuting to London daily for work.

Well when I'm down in Kent I commute from Folkestone - which is on the same line as Tonbridge and Sevenoaks. The trouble is I'll only be able to afford doing one or the other at the minute - either having my own place OR commuting, until I get a pay-rise anyway!
