Some of you might have a bit of knowledge about this.

My company have a Dell Blade Server with 4 populated Blades in a 6 Blade shell. We reckon each blade is a P3 900, and it will have a couple of SCSI drives and at least 2Gb of RAM.

Any clues what kind of resale value this might have?

i reckon you'd get about £200-300 for each blade and maybe £300 for the chassis.

if the newer dell blades fit the chassis then you might get more.

the spec of the blades is where you loose value - p3 900 isn't really that useful in a windows server world, but if you've got a fair number of high capacity scsi disks in those blades then i think it would be of use to somebody and will definately push the value up.

i'd put the whole thing on ebay for maybe between £800-£1000 and see what you get.

the problem is dell are so competitive is that you can get a really good deals on servers (especially if you tell the sales rep you're also getting a quote from hp), but i'm sure somebody will have a need for it!

The SCSI drives will definitely push the value up, the bigger they are capacity wise. While 2Gb of RAM is considered overkill for most home users, in a server like that it'll also be quite a useful asset depending on how heavily loaded the server would be in its new home, if any.

I think Dr Lobster has the right sort of price range, though the only problem with eBay is that stuff can go far cheaper than the seller expects it to, but if that's a risk you're happy to take then so be it.
