Found this bit interesting..

So they've added an extra pip to their time signal, but what BBC outlet is actually going to broadcast it? Admittedly I've never checked, but surely they all use the chimes of big ben at new year? As much of a British institution that the pips are, they're hardly dramatic enough to signal a new year, even on Radio 4.
