Locked Computer

Hi

I am looking for a little bit of help.

"My Friend" has a computer he has set the user log on page to come on at the beginging but has forgot the password that he used.

How can he get the password?

if you're lucky, he might not have reset his admin password - if he's got windows xp home, try booting into safe mode and logging in as Administrator with a blank password

How do I get into safe mode?

I thought it was f8 but this did not work.

f8 is correct - keep pressing it as soon as the pc boots up, you should get a menu which looks something like this:

Out of curiosity, how do you take a screenshot in the OS boot area?

you need to use something like vmware or other virtualisation software

btw, i never actually took that screenshot i pinched it!

I favour Virtual PC (yes, yes a Microsoft product ... ) for that sort of thing.

Meanwhile . . . am I seeing things, or is that screengrab in an almost widescreen aspect ratio?
