Messenger Question

I'm on the laptop at the moment, and I'm using the latest version of MSN Messenger. However when someone signs in, the wav plays but I don't get a notification on-screen, as when someone sends a new message.
What's wrong?

Is your status set to Busy? That might be the problem.
Otherwise, click Tools (on the MSN Messenger contact list), Alerts and Sounds. Check all the boxes are ticked.
