XBOX 360 or Playstation 3?

with microsoft getting their new super console out just in time for christmas, how many of you will be asking santa for an xbox 360, and how many of you will be waiting for the PS3?
or are you going to keep with what you've got because you can't see the point in upgrading?
personally, i'm going to wait for the ps3 - some of the screenshots and videos i've seen of games in development look amazing, and definately work waiting for, the only thing which might put me off is the price, the ps3 is rumoured to have a price point approaching 300 notes which is a lot of money to pay, especially when you consider the premium titles aren't cheap either, and the main reason why i wouldn't touch a psp with a barge pole - some of the games for that are more expensive than the ps2 equivalents.

You get what you pay for in my opinion.
Wait for the PS3. I am!

I am getting an Xbox 360 and a Nintendo Revolution. Never been a PS guy really.

To me, and I don't know why, the PlayStation is always the "cool" console - all your mates own one and play football / driving / fighting games on it regularly.
XBOX and Nintendo seem somewhat 'geeky' in comparison.

Thats probably because Nintendo is the oldest of the Gaming companies, so they've been around for ages, and XBOX is a hardcore gaming machine.
But both of those machines are well made, and allow 4 players without extra purchases.
Sony PlayStation machines are known to be poorly built, and only have 2 controller ports.
Sony's Hype machine tries to downplay the other companies, the playstation designer even once said, they would kill microsoft, so I have little respect for Sony, even if they brought gaming out of Geek Chic and into Mainstream conciousness.

When Games Console talk goes on, it's amazing how vehemently people defend the brand that they own.
I own a PS2 but of late the XBox has been getting better games. Depending on whether new controllers, Network adapter etc. will be required for the PS3, I'll probably switch to the XBox 360 -- but not for Christmas time.

Well I brought an original Playstation for my brother in the local market for £10, he collects past and present consoles. Maybe one day when a PS2 is the same price, we will get it, but for now its a waste of money when it is the most technically inferior of the 3 consoles, and most of the games are poor quality. Having said that, there are some great games out for the PS2, which I'm sure will become classics someday.

the thing about Nintendo is that they have made some utterly stupid decisions lately - the nintendo 64 and gamecube never really caught on; i do have a Cube which I got at a knockdown price but most of the games are fairly childish and i don't really play it.

Given what Sony's been upto recently with DRM rootkits, my choice is the new Microsoft XBox 360.

Well, playing video games is a complete and utter waste of time - read a book, and learn something useful instead.
