Yet another Morrisons thread

Wouldn't be surprised if they're in serious trouble soon, the stores are dead half the time now yet you can go to the ASDA or Tesco 5 minutes down the road and they're packed. Going down hill big time and fast and it's not unique to one store either. Even popped into the big one at Harrogate the other day and that was exactly the same as was passing by and if it's dead in their Yorkshire heartlands then they're in big trouble imo.

Waitrose’s Essentials range really is very good you know. In terms of quality I’d say it’s more in line with other supermarkets’ standard own brand ranges rather than their value ranges. Once you bear this in mind, the pricing is very competitive. £1.50 for a big box of malted wheat cereal that tastes better than Shreddies. 50p for a kilo of carrots - same price as Asda. Milk is only 5p more than Asda for 4 pints. I think they can be even bolder on the price messaging.

Waitrose have ended their partnership with Heston Blumenthal as well.

It's funny I read that about 5 minutes after posting and if I had a rant about the problems, it would pretty much everything mentioned there. I'm not sure it's just the equity firm though as it's being going down hill for years but it's getting much worse lately mind. The fresh food counters in particular is a bug bare, as I only go to use them, but half the time the Salad Bar is just disgusting, pasta that has gone hard isn't appetising, or there's one staff member doing the fish / butcher counter which would be fine if it wasn't their 90's stores where the counters are at opposite ends of the store.

They definitely need a change in direction asap imo. Not surprised people are moving to ALDI etc.

Love the Waitrose Essentials range personally, it's above the other supermarket stuff though imo and most of it is better than the brands. Agreed with the pricing, some stuff is cheaper nowadays; ready meals in particular.

Just a shame there isn't many in the North East so it's a bit of a trek and the Ponteland one isn't very big.

Same in Nottingham now, nearest proper Waitrose stores are a 30-40 min drive away in Newark or Mountsorrel.

I have had some Essential Waitrose stuff from Company Shop, possibly from before Ocado switched to M&S, and I've never been disappointed. Possibly doing themselves a disservice by positioning it as an economy range.

Sainsburys are currently getting quite a lot of my grocery spend - I think their prices have gone up less meaning there's hardly much between them and the rest of the pack now.

Seen Morrisons is relaunching the More scheme for the second time on Tuesday which seems to be exactly the same as last time even known customers didn't like it...?

Hopefully they do away with all the silly opting in to offers etc. Morrisons, Co-op and Waitrose do this and it’s such a faff. Much prefer how Asda’s works for simplicity.

There was also a trial before Match & More which I believe was also called More (the logo persisted on their awful SCOs until they were all replaced).

Guessing the old 'Morrisons Miles' 10x multiplier is still in place? If so, and 10p back in points when you buy own brand sausages is a launch offer, I don't think this is the cure for Morrisons ills...

The Asda Rewards app is a total mess. I think Lidl have the best app.

Just got this as I'm in the North East and it's pointless 15 offers for points which expire at the end of May and most of them are for cakes which I don't want.

Mind the sausages have changed it's now 500 points for £5.

What an utterly shite scheme. Essentially 10% back in points on a few things (rounded down in awkward chunks) and 0.5% back on fuel. Boggles the mind that this is the best they could come up with.
